We have just spent a thoroughly enjoyable four days at the Dolphin Hotel, and are happy to recommend it to anyone considering a relaxing time in the village of Beer.. All the staff at the venue were helpful, pleasant and welcoming. The room which we were allocated was spacious, well-furnished and spotlessly clean, with a large en-suite shower room.
We ate on all four evenings in the restaurant, where the food was fresh, beautifully cooked and presented, and the portions were very generous! A particular delight were the scallops, for which the Hotel is famous in the area. Breakfast each morning was also excellent, and we really could not have asked for anything better.
The village itself is delightful, and we were blessed with some very pleasant weather during our stay. Perhaps in the height of the season there might be some difficulties with noise outside the hotel, but, after all, it is the "local" for the permanent residents, so there should be little cause for any complaint form the guests. In April the only sound to interrupt our sleep was that of the seagulls at about 6 am each day, presumably welcoming the fishermen back from their toils!
We are hopeful that we will return at some later date - that is something definitely to which we are looking forward.

Had a great few days here in August - stayed in room 2 over Long Bar and didn't have any problems with noise - we went down every night anyway! Comfy beds, pleasant decor, tea/coffee making facilities - couldn't fault it for the reasonable price. Breakfasts excellent with great choice served by friendly staff. Restaurant food was very good too. The Long Bar was our favourite - brilliant staff, great beers & Addlestones cider, and a great jukebox. Returning again in October - can't come soon enough. Thanks to all at the Dolphin.

Needed to pop down to the area at short notice and managed to grab the last available room. Arrived quite late in the day and upon parking in the private car park, I noticed that there were plenty of customers enjoying the sunny evening (yes I did say sunny !). Made my way to reception and was professionally and politely greeted, a simple painless check in and off up to my room. Immaculate is the only way I could describe it, everything newish, bathroom spotless, bed very comfy, great start. Down to dinner and I had forgotten to book but the staff soon remedied this and laid up a table for my guests and I. The food was simply superb which matched the dining staff, I have not met a more polite group of staff in my many travels, they really made you feel welcome. I challenge anyone to finish one of their salads, they are gigantic !!! A brilliants night sleep was complimented the next morning with a full english breakfast, again faultless. This really is a great pub/hotel and I will certainly be going back. Well done the Dolphin !!!!

Hey Danny & Family!
Just wanted to put in a good word for you guys. Thanks so very much for the great time I had whilst I lived and worked in Beer. I finally made it back to the US in March 2010 and have settled back in. I work in a deli preparing food, slicing specialty meats and cheeses and generally making a nuisance of myself. Well, hope to hear back from you guys. If you ever go on Facebook you can find my homepage under David Nicholas Bibb. Friend me! Okay, I hope to return some day with my family. Bye and good luck!

I just wanted to thank all the staff at the hotel for a lovely christmas. We stayed at the Dolphin Hotel over christmas, I booked the hotel for my Dad and Sister & brother-in-law for three nights. The staff, accomadation and food were all first class. We all had a brilliant time, all the staff were so friendly and helpful, food was excellent and there was so much of it. We would certainly stay there again and recommend it to anyone.

FANTASTIC! Booked 2 nights here for a wedding we attended a few weeks ago and can't fault the place, stayed above the Bar in Room 3 which was massive! had a double and single bed in it and easily room for another 2 beds if nec! really bright and spacious room, no contemporary decoration but I'm not a minimalist and this was way cosier than your usual Hotel. The noise from the Bar was EXTREMELY loud until gone midnight but we didn't care because we were joining in! we were forewarned by the Receptionist when we booked and she was right to as I can see that a little old couple may not have appreciated it! We ate in the Long Bar because the Lounge and Restaurant were both full (wish we'd booked in advance) but had a lovely meal none the less! couldn't fault the service, the Bar staff were lovely especially the chubby guy in the gaudy shirt (believe he is the owner) who was friendly and welcoming. We found that the locals were keen to chat when we popped out for a cigarette and even had a game of pool with a local couple (Hi to Steve & Blanche!). We'll be coming back and probably book the same room again. So if you're looking for a fun and lively Hotel, make this your next port of call!

Spent the weekend in Beer beginning of April and the Dolphin was excellent. Previously stayed at The Anchor so was keen to see how the Dolphin compared. I have to say I was very happy with everything about it. The room was clean and fresh and cleaned daily, the room was not as big as some I have stayed in but it was a single so not a problem at all. The hotel is surprisingly big with plenty of places to sit and have a relaxing drink. Breakfast was very tasty , we ate all our evening meals there and everyone of them was excellent, very large portions so excellent value for money and we weren't kept waiting, the home made Steak & Kidney pie was fantastic. From the cleaning of the rooms to the meals, everything was done by the staff in a friendly , efficient and polite manner. Has the added benefit of onsite parking which is a plus in Beer and they were happy for me to leave my car there on my departure day whilst I wandered around for a while. I would definately recommend the Dolphin to others and will stay again when next in Beer. Thanks to everyone at the Dolphin for a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

I would love to be able to thank the staff for an enjoyable dinner at the restaurant (on 4th August 2010), but I am sorry to say that our experience on this occasion was actually spoilt by less than adequate service. It may have been that the restaurant was busier than usual and some of the waiting staff a little forgetful that reason.
However, we plan to return. Mainly due to the excellent food, reasonable prices and great location.

I returned with my wife Lizzie and Jack Russell "Willow" nothing had changed except the specials on the menu, this is an outstanding Hotel situated in a beautiful village, excellent service, clean comfortable rooms, fabulous food of generous proportions............you'll love it.
Thanks to everyone, Howard on reception a lovely man, nothing is too much trouble for him, the bar staff, the waitresses, chambermaids, Head Chef Heil Harding, who consistently served outstanding plates of food, all made our stay once again memorable and relaxing.
we will without question be back..................................................
The Dolphin Hotel Beer, if you're checking to see what others think of the Hotel because this is your first visit then please read on, (if you've been here before, you already know it's absolutely brilliant so what are you waiting for)
I've been coming to Beer for more years than I care to remember, usually staying in Bank House a wonderful bed and breakfast accomadation, that was owned and run by Julia and Danny Clinch. (it's not so good now)
a few years ago Julia, Danny , his brother Darren and their Mother and Father bought the Dolphin Hotel, and what a transformation, this is without question the very best hotel of its type I have ever stayed in, a credit to them all.
The rooms are clean, airy and welcoming, comfortable beds with crisp clean linen, we had a quality shower, tea and coffee making facilities, fresh milk on request. I hate that UHT stuff.
Breakfast was excellent, I had the full monty most mornings, yummy! although not on the menu I requested poached haddock with poached free range eggs one evening, and it was there ready for me when i arrived in the morning, nothing ever seemed too much trouble for any of the staff.
Dinner was nothing short of awesome, Danny Clinch along with the kitchen staff, and his quite briliant head chef Neil Harding produced fantastic plates of food, do try prawn & crab cakes with curry sauce it's a fabulous dish, i could eat it for Breakfast, lunch and dinner and not get fed up with it.
The service whether in the bar or the very popular restaurant was superb, no complaints whatsoever..............
Nothing much more I can say really, Beer is a beautiful village caught up in the webs of time, it has plenty of good places to eat and drink, two very good art galleries, a fully working pebbled beach, just sit and watch the fishermen going about their daily shores, a picture box, romantic place but extremely hard work for them, you'll appreciate your next fish supper so much more knowing how hard it is to get the fish to your table.
Simon Bartlett runs self drive boats from the beach, try a couple of hours, mackrell fishing or just cruising around the bay, the best stress reliever i have ever found....................
why am I raving about the Hotel and village, nope I'm not on the payroll, I'm raving about both because this is simply the very best place in England to take a holiday, relax and recouperate.
Now, don't take my word for it, pick up the phone give them a ring, book a room for a while, and enjoy.
See you there guys..........................................
